Title: I’m a little a Agile Guy in a Big A Agile World

Speaker(s): Dave Davis

Time: 11:00 AM

Room: Magnolia - Ingage

Abstract:

The term agile is used frequently today in many PMO’s. However, there are very different macro definitions of the word that lead to confusion within the business. This presentation will explore the difference between “Little a agile” and “Big A Agile”. While the two are complementary, there is a difference in that “little a” represents an organizational mindset, while Big A represents methodology and product development. Presented by a Certified Discipline Agile Instructor this presentation will look at the relationship between organization agility and agile workflows. The “little a agile” will be explored in relationship to establishing an enterprise-wide mindset of iterative value delivery. It will concentrate on the organizations needs to look at the value streams in the product value proposition and how it can be delivered faster using agile techniques and methodologies. The “Big A Agile” will be explored in relationship to determining the best methodology and approach for developing and delivering the product. “Big A Agile” uses defined structures to deliver products using a hybrid of many different methodologies, tools, and approaches. This combination can only work if the organization adopts “little a agile” values and principles. Presented by a Certified Discipline Agile Instructor this presentation will look at the relationship between organization agility and agile workflows. Learning Objectives: 1) The participant will be able to compare and contrast the definitions of big a agile and little a agile and articulate how they work together in a PMO environment to deliver value to the organization. 2) The participant will be able to understand the importance of a little a agile mindset in the organization in order to enable different methodologies encompassed within big a agile for product development. 3) The participant will be able to explain to program and project sponsors their role in helping make both “big A Agile” and “Little a Agile” work together for delivering value in the most efficient way possible.
